From your research, the only logical conclusion is two different men with the name of Daniel BATES..... COCKAMAMIE explanation..... Daniel of GA deserted wife, moves back to SC. Wife covers up desertion when she applied for letters administration. SC Daniel fabricates new life and stories, dying five years later..... Is there any proof of SC Daniel being a revolutionary soldier? Even with sparse population in GA and SC during those times, surely someone would have known and exposed him. Without some sort of proof, I don't see how SC Daniel and GA Daniel could be the same man.

You said both census show nearly the same information. What is the difference? I would love to know more about both, such as names of children. Did either of these men leave a will? GA Daniel BATES is my number one suspect as being the father of my James Madison BATES b. 1812 GA. DNA results shows JMB is of the JY branch.

Mr. Davis, it's good hearing from you. I've been overseas for the past several years and was unable to do
any research. Thank you for sharing your research and maybe one day I'll be able to the same.

Susie Bates in Florida by way of MS
