Thanks for the reply. I need proof as to the line of Daniel.
LDS has a extended library in the area I've just moved. Also the local library has a large genealogy department. Surely with all those documents somewhere I'll be able to find a true list of Daniel's children as well as his wife. On the BATES side, I can prove only back to James M. Bates b 1812 GA. The only record I have as to James having a middle name is on the Alabama State Census. On the Federal Census he's listed only as James. As to what the M represents has come under question. An older cousin, born 1918, told me it was Madison, but I have since found Marion used by one of sons in naming his children.
I continue to search. Thanks again. I would love to compare notes and see if we can uncover any long forgotten hints as to proof of JMB being in the line of Daniel.
