Greetings to all. I would appreciate any info on Shelby Bates He was born abt.1810-12. It was recorded in an 1860 census that he and his parents were born in Anderson,SC. Other census records have him living in the eastern division of Pickens County SC in 1840 and 1850. Most Ancestry trees have his death in 1850 but I found him in Salubrity, SC (Pickens County) in an 1860 census with his name misspelled as Shelvey. He was married to Margaret whom I also can't find any info on... not even her maiden name. His son was Thomas H., his grandson was Jay T. Clayton, his great grandson was my granddad George Washington. Any info would be very helpful.
