Funeral services for Altha Alice BATESEL were held today at First United Methodist Church, Bowlegs. Rev. Robert Cocke officiated. Burial was in Wolf Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
BATESEL died Saturday (06 JAN 1990) at Seminole Municipal Hospital. She was 90 years old.
She was born Oct. 6, 1899, in Clayton, OK. She moved to Seminole County in 1926 from Eureka, KS. She was a housewife and attended First Methodist Church, Bowlegs. She also was a member of Royal Neighbors of America, a charter member of Pink Ladies of Seminole Municipal Hospital and a lifetime member of WSCS of First United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Versal H. BATESEL, who died in October 1958; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.C. KANE, Bowlegs; two sons, James Robert BATESEL and Teddy Versal BATESEL; and five grandchildren.
Survivors include five daughters, Ruth ROBBINS, Waelder, TX, Pheba GRISSO, Salt Lake City, UT, Mary CAMERON, Bowlegs, Vernia JENNINGS, Burney Falls, CA, and Clonia IVEY, DeKalb, TX; two sisters, Josephine TYREE, Grand Prairie, TX, and Lucy MORRISON, Bowlegs; 23 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers included Michael Robbins, Leon Coots, Don Henderson, Ray Vandever, Veron Coots and Jim Kane.
