Muriel Batesel, 91, passed away on July 20th, surrounded by her family who dearly loved her. Muriel was born June 25, 1914, to Joseph Joshua and Pearl Adele Jackson in Sparks, NV. She graduated from Sparks High School. Muriel then embarked on a long fulfilling life as a wife, mother, grandmother, businesswoman, and friend. She began her business career after graduation as a beautician, owning and operating three beauty salons in Reno. she married Michael and moved to Carson City. She and Michael started their life in Carson City by homesteading two 160 acre parcels of land. One in Jacks Valley and the other being the original Cinderlite Mine on McClellan Peak. After working long and hard on the homestead she decided to go into real estate. She established Muriel L. Batesel, Realtors, and became a prominent and well respected broker in Carson City. After 35 years and at the age of 80 Muriel's family finally coaxed her to retire. Muriel was also very active in many organizations. She was the President of St. Teresa of Avila P.T.A. and served as the chairman for many of their christmas fashion shows. She joined the business and professional women while in Reno. She was amember of hospital auxilary and the president of the Republican Womens Club, Soroptomists, and the Carson Board of Realtors. Her most cherished club was St. Teresa's St. Anne's Guild, where she enjoyed many hours of comeraderie and laughter with her loving girlfriends. During her retirement she became very involved in St. Teresa's Seniors Organization. Muriel was a wonderful mother who was always there for each of her children and grandchildren. She was a marvelous cook and seamstress. She was preceded in death my her mother, father, brothers Joe, Alan, Don, and sister Bernice. She is survived by her husband Michael, her son Michael (Bansi), daughter April Enloe (Jim), son Mitchell, grandsons Aaron and Austin, grandaughter Amanda, and great grandson Ckayden, as well as many nieces and nephews. A Mass will be celebrated Tuesday July 26th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church on Lompa Lane, Carson City, NV. Burial will be at a later date for immediate family.
