My grandfather was Clarence Edmund Batschelet. He had among his geneology papers an original document in old German date Aug. 24, 1833, Bern, Switzerland giving a Christian Batschelet official permission and recognition to practice medicine. (We have had it translated) My grandfather did some geneological research on the family in America because he worked as Chief Geographer for the U.S. Census Bureau and had access to original census records. I don't know if this info. helps.
