I am a decendant of Frederick Batschelett, brother of John Batschelett. This is the information I have. John Batschelett was born May 20, 1844 in Berne, Switzerland. Brothers Benedict, John, and Christian came to the United States in 1864. They first settled in Illinois, later coming to Henry County, Missouri. John died April 22, 1871. He drowned in Willow Branch Creek. At that time there was not any bridge to cross, just a ford and the creek was high. His horses became tangled in the harness which led to his drowning. He was engaged to be married at the time of his death.
