Hi Monica, Thanks for your response! As far as I know, Beatty and Batty are derived from the name Bartholemew so it could be someone just picked one or the other to use. I really don't know what to say other than to tell you what I know. I am very interested in knowing if my gt. gt. gt. grandfather, John Batty was married to an Ellen or an Eleanor who was called Ellen? Her maiden name is unknown. Their sons were samuel, joseph and william. Sam is my gt. gt. gr. father and he married Martha Copley, dau. of
James Copley and Mary Beaumont. Sam was born in Leeds and Martha was born either in
Dalton or Huddersfield, Yorkshire, England.
Sam and his brothers all came to U.S. I am
wondering if the John mentioned in recent messages is my 3rd gt. gr. father?Take care
