Carol,

I have a real mystery on my hands. My Isabella Batty was born in 1852 and the OVR for her marriage to William McDonald lists her parents as Thomas Batty and Jenny (maiden name not given). Her sister, Mary Jane was born in 1853 and the OVR for her marriage to David McDonald lists her parents as Thomas Batty and Marion Welch.

I suppose it is possible that Thomas was actually William Thomas, since William is the only Batty I've found in Ontario census records that was married to a Janet, Jennet, Jenny. The problem is that all the children for the William/Janet marriage are about ten years too old for the ages I have for the Batty children who were married in Manitoulin and claim Thomas as a father.

Do you have any marriage/death information for William and Janet?

Regards,

Nancy Thompson
