Another Samuel Batty

My Grandfather's name was Samuel Batty. He lived in Manchester, England and from what little info I have, was the black sheep of the family. I suspect that he came from Leeds but when his father disowned him he most likely moved to Manchester. He was one of many children (7 or more). I think he was born about the mid 1800's because he died about 1918. My father's was born in 1895 and his name was William Henry Batty. He had an older sister named Elizabeth and several other brothers and sisters. Some names that I can recall were James, Minnie and Elsie.

By chance on a visit to Cedar Key, Florida I discovered that there was a man who lived there before the turn of the century whose name was William H. Batty. He had a wife named Elizabeth. This certainly is a close tie-in. Although he was a shopkeeper in Cedar Key I also found that he was a ship's captain. I believe that he captained a ship during the Civil War.
