Donald, I said in an earlier post that I was a great-grandson of Andreas, but of course that was your great-great grandfather not my great uncle Andrew who was your great-grandfather. My grandfather was Fred. I met Fred and my great uncle Gottlieb who were living in Burlington when I was a boy and visited there. I note from the book about Bauders that Fred and Andrew went together to work so they must have been pretty good friends, but I think he had died by the time I was visitiing Burlington. What to say about them? They were farmers and sucessful ones and weathered the great depression and the dust bowl on dryland farms. They were simple folk. I believe I heard once that the only thing my grandfather ever read was the Bible and the Farm Journal; but he was also one of the directors of the farm coop.
