message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles
will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will
no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.
My line is from Johan Melchior (son of Michael Melchior & Maria (SALTSMAN) BAUDER) & Margaret "Peggy" (HAUS/HOUSE) Bauder. My great-great-great-grandfather was their son, James Lawrence Bauder, born in Canajoharie, Montgomery Co., NY in 1811. He married Harriet TRYON who I believe to be the daughter of David & Mary Wakeman (PIERSON) Tryon in about 1832 - probably in Schoharie Co., NY where their oldest son/child Daniel Bauder was born in 1833. Their second child born in 1835 in Montgomery Co. was my great-great-grandmother Lydia Maria Bauder, who married Rev. Elvin Freeman AUSTIN & moved to York Co., NE where she died in 1876. E.F. Austin remarried, and later moved to CA c1891.
Some time after 1840 James L. Bauder moved his family to Kane Co., IL. He served in the War with Mexico, and died in Kane Co. in Aug 1849. I believe that he is listed in the Kane Co. Mortality Schedule for 1850 as "James BORDEN". His widow & 4 youngest children (Lydia Maria, Harvey Watson, Thomas Jefferson, and Aurelia Fidelia) moved from Kane Co. to LaSalle Co., IL. Harriet later moved to Audrain Co., MO with son Harvey Watson Bauder, and died there sometime in 1876. James & Harriet's son Thomas Jefferson Bauder moved to CA before 1880, and son Harvey sometime between 1880 & 1898.
