Hi.I should do a better job of tracking such things, I know! But here's what I can piece together from my notes:The Missouri death certificate (File #4457) for John Wesley Baugher (d. 15 Feb 1914 Kennett, Dunklin Co., MO) lists his parents as Thomas Baugher (b. IL) and Mary Evans (b. IL).[My g-grandfather Isaac Newton Holligan is listed on the certificate as the "Informant" for this info].
I believe it is this same Thomas Baugher in the 1860 Census for Little River, Mississippi Co., Arkansas - with an approximate birthdate of 1821 (although it lists his birthplace as Alabama, not Illinois). In that census, Thomas is living with his second wife, Nancy Tucker (b. ca1838 TN) and the following three children, who I believe were from his first marriage to Mary Evans:William (1846; John 1852; and Thomas 1859).
Mississippi Co., AR is just across the state line, south of Dunklin Co., MO.I'm pretty certain this is the right family - but admit that I have not researched this info particularly diligently (!!).
As far as Thomas Baugher's parents - it looks like I may have plugged in that info about John Jacob Baugher and Margaretha Sarah Ledbetter without doing much fact checking on my own.Prefer not to say who gave me that info - my mistake in "putting it out there" without checking it first (I'm more diligent with my direct line!).
It looks like there is a different Thomas Baugher (b. ca1812 KY) who lived in Moultrie Co., IL (see 1850, 1860, and 1870 Census records).(Perhaps that is the Thomas whose father is John Jacob Baugher?).Anyway - sorry about the confusion on this issue.I can't say for certain who are the parents of "our" Thomas Baugher - father of John Wesley Baugher.
FYI - I'm going to post a couple follow-up notes (on a different issue) to my original message in this thread as soon as I finish this message.
