The following is an important section of the [I] Smith (Schmidt) line I have posted on the Smith Genforum. This part of the genealogy is an important Baughman line so I am posting it on here for all Baughman researchers. Vikki.........avikkil@yahoo.com II Baughman line: 1 Peter Baughman b abt 1804/05 bur Allegheny Cemetery, Pittsburgh, PA m Elizabeth UNK b abt 1804/05 bur Allegheny Cem. 2 William J Baughman b abt 1840 m abt 1860 Ann Mills b abt 1840 Steeple Claydon, England d abt 1923 Pittsburgh bur Allegheny dau of John and Mary Mills of Steeple Claydon both b abt 1804/05 Steeple Claydon and both bur Allegheny Cem. 3 Mary Elizabeth Baughman b abt 1860 m 30 Dec 1880 Pittsburgh, PA Cyrus M Smith of West Newton, PA --a grain warehouse worker from Westmoreland County, Pa. who was later a greengrocer (1900 census) in Wellsburg, W.Va. II The Baughmans considered themselves very grand. When Ann Mills-Baughman died in the 1920s, she left a fortune of a quarter of a million daollars. Her grandson, William Baughman Smith, was a pallbearer at her funeral. He was hoping for an inheritance but was left nothing because his father, Cyrus M Smith, had been a grain warehouse worker from West Newton, PA and had only become a greengrocer in Wellsburg, W.Va. and they considered him beneath them. Ann Mills was from Steeple Claydon, England wgere her parents, John and Mary Mills, were also from and all are buried in Allegheny Cemetery, Pittsburgh, PA along with William J Baughman, her husband, and his parents, Peter and Elizabeth Baughman.
