Many South Carolina Baughman families from the early 1800's are related and descended from Jacob Baughman (born abt 1692 or 1696 in Zurich, Switzerland. His family immigrated to PA in 1743. At least two or three of his sons - Hans Ulrich, Joaquin (Joseph) and Hans Conrad immigrated to SC. I don't know which of the brothers that I am a descendant of, but know throigh DNA that I am highly likely related. My closest ancestor is William Uriah Baughman born abt 1809 in SC (his son Joseph Jasper Baughman, changed his suurname to Balkman) . I know I am not answering your question but perhaps this will help you get further down the path.
