Seeking origination village and parents of Phillip Baumgardner/Bomgardner born in Switzerland on 15 June 1811.
Arrived as a 6-year old in New Castle, Delaware, on 15th November 1817, and settled in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Naturalization petition signed 25 September 1834 at Philadelphia County Sessions Court. Married Margaret Bendall about 1836. Federal Census of Pennsylvania in 1850 shows residence in Moyamensing (now South Philadelphia) and occupation as brickmaker. Among first Baumgardner listings in Philadelphia City Directory (1853). Died 11 July 1875 at West Philadelphia home. Buried at Mount Moriah Cemetery, Philadelphia. Have extracted 150 village church records in the German-speaking cantons and have built up a data base but have yet to find Phillip and his parents. I am descended from his son Richard Lambert Baumgardner. Thank you for any clues. Anton Roeger, III
