Maryville Enterprise, (Blount Co. TN) Thursday, November 19, 1936:

"Obituary---In loving remembrance of our dear wife, mother and grandmother, Susan E. Long, who departed this life on November 4, 1936. Only a few days ago a home was hung with sadness and mourning and its hearts torn and bleeding because the Death Angel had called a loving wife, mother and grandmother to her Heavenly home.
Now that she has gone from us, we have the sweet assurance that we can meet again in a home where there is no death, no sorrow and no pain; no tears to be shed, for all will be peace and happiness forever and ever. Weep not for her but prepare to meet her on that bright Heavenly shore where there is no sad parting.
A chair is vacant in our home which never can be filled and a voice we loved is still. Oh, mother we loved you, but the Lord never makes a mistake; he doeth all things well.
Susan Elizabeth Baumgardner Long was born May 24, 1866 and departed this life on November 4, 1936, making her stay on earth 70 years, 5 months and 10 days. She professed faith in Christ at an early age and united with the Mt. Olive Methodist Church and remained a faithful member until death.
She was united in marriage to W.H. Long on November 9, 1887, and to this union was born eight children, two boys and six girls, of which two girls, Etta and Rue, preceded her to the great beyond some years ago. She leaves to mourn her death her husband, W.H. Long, and six children, two boys, Kenneth and Hobert Long of Maryville, and four girls, Mrs. Sammy Keller of Greenback, Mrs. Leonard Everett of North Carolina, Mrs. Arthur C. Kerr and Mrs. Henry Martin of Maryville; two brothers, John Baumgardner of Texas and W.H. Baumgardner of Maryville; 33 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. She will be missed in the home and community where she lived. She was a kind wife and mother.
The pallbearers and flower girls were grandchildren of the deceased. Funeral service was conducted by Rev. R.L. Porter, after which the body was laid to rest in the Old Kagley Cemetery, under a blanket of beautiful flowers to await the Resurrection Day."
