Jeanne, I have been at the Navarro Library lately and found the info you gave them to be very helpful.
Don't know if you have them, but the Obits in Corsicana daily Sun, has info on both Walter and his wife, Jessie. While it is not entirely accurate or complete, there was an interesting note in Walters, that he was survived by his brother "I.A. Baumgartner in Ennis". I suspect this is more of a misprint, because Torney is "T.A" and he died after Walter.
In looking back at census records, I note that Charles and Amanda had a)been married for 18 years (in 1900) and that there were 3 other children (all girls) that didn't seem to show up with Charles in Ellis County in 1910. Could they have married? or did they come to Texas with him maybe under other names??? Just wondering what happened to them.
I don't have a lot of contact with the other Baumgartner's
But I do know that of Walter's children, the only one's living are Donnie, Tommy, and Mary Francis. There are a number of grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
I may be able to get with Tommy in the next couple of moths to get more information, but so far, really, none of them has shown a great deal of interest in pursuing this line.
My group, anyway seems to be a little xenophobic. But I'll see what I can find out for ya.
