Checked out Bayard in the 1897 edition of The Century Atlas of the World by Benjamin E. Smith
Came up with Arizona, Delaware, Florida, Kansas, and Ohio. Used ePodunk an Internet place locator and Google to come up with some information. Suggest you try using a map program with google or terraserver-usa (which allows entry by latitude and longitude). Most of these Bayards were small community or town centers that may now be parts of larger towns.
Bayard, Ohio is located a little Northwest of Minerva in Columbiana County, Ohio. The latitude of Bayard, Ohio is 40.750N. The longitude is -81.065W. Population in the 1897 atlas is listed as about 150.
EPodunk has it named after the settler Frederick Bayard.
Bayard, Florida is in Duval County, in the Jacksonville metro area. The latitude is 30.14333N. The longitude is -81.51306W. Population in the 1897 atlas is listed as about 250.

Bayard, Arizona or possibly Fort Bayard in Yavapia County appears to be abandoned. Bayard was possibly an early name for East Fort which is about 5 to 10 miles westerly of Bumblebee, Arizona. This was mining country with no estimate for population in 1897.
