Mary Adams Bayard 1797-1854 Pennsylvania

Does anyone have much information on Mary Adams Bayard, b 1797, d 1854, both in Pittsburgh, PA. She was the daughter of Col. Stephen Bayard and Elizabeth Mackay, but finding details on her has been difficult.

She seems to have married a Robert Getty and from some source I believe I saw a marriage date of Nov 1814 (which would have made her 17). Later, she apparently married Thomas Simmons and DAR records indicate that marriage took place 30 Oct 1830.

Beyond that all is vague. I can find little about this Robert Getty, and whether he died or they divorced, and whether there were any children.

With Thomas Simmons, she had only one known child: Margaret Ann Simmons, b Jan 1831, who married Capt. James A. Gordon. Searches of censuses don't turn up Mary as being in the same household with Thomas Simmons in 1850, though there is an Ann Simmons there showing as his wife. However, the 1850 census says this Ann was born in 1797 in PA, but she shows up on the 1860 also (after Mary would have been dead) and it says she was born 1810 in Ireland, so it seems unlikely this could be Mary.

There is a Mary Bayard, b 1797, living with a John B Bayard in 1850, which doesn't tell relationships, so maybe she was using her maiden name (or the enumerator got it wrong) and she was living with a relative?

Mary was buried in the same cemetery as husband Thomas Simmons, but does not seem to have been buried near him (plot information differs quite a bit).

Can anyone shed any light on this person and her life?

Thanks!
