I have some information on Nicholas James Bayard b. march 26, 1848 in Roswell , GA.

This write up came out of a book called Virginia Military Institute , Cadets at New Market..

Druggist-Orange Grower

Born in Roswell, Ga., March 26, 1848

Parents: Nicholas J. Bayard, of New York and moved to Savannah , Ga. in 1830 , and Elizabeth Barrington Hand, a widow when she married Bayard.

Grandparent (Maternal): Roswell King of Roswell, G.

He matriculated at V. M. I. August 17, 1863, from Rome, Ga. and while a fourth classman he was a cadet private in Co. B. in the battle of New Market. He continued on at the institute until July 4, 1867 when he graduated , standing eighth in his class.

Married: Grace, the daughter of Dr. Robert Battey. of Rome, GA.

Children: Julia Barrington ( Holland)
Nicholas Ralph Bayard

Later he took a course and was graduated in Civil Engineering at Lafayette College, Easton Penn; he also took a course at the Pharmaceutical college in Philadelphia. Was a druggist in Rome, Ga. but owing to ill health, moved to Florida and engaged in the cultivation of oranges

On Nov. 20, 1883 he died of a congestive chill , in Jacksonville Fla. His wife and children survived him.
