Shirley,
I do not know who the father of Edward Lewis or Lewis Edward Bays is.However,I am sure the he has to be related to my gggrandfather McJimp Bays.Lewis settled in Denton Co., Texas and McJimp settled in Collin Co., Texas just a few miles from the Denton Co. line.Lewis and McJimp have to many of the same names in their family not to be related.McJimp was born about 1814 in Kentucky.
The names that are the same in both families are McJimps wife was Mary Ann and Lewis had a daughter named Mary Ann.Lewis had a son that was named McGimpsy (you wouldn't name a child that if they weren't related). Both men had children named Manerva or Minerva, Nancy, and Eliza Ann.
I have seen or been told that Lewis was born in Alabama orIllinois.
My guess and that is all that it is - is the parents of McJimp were Isaiah Bays and Jenny Hunter.Isaiah was in the same county as McJimp in 1830.Isaiah was in Green Co., Kentucky in 1813 the same location of his father in law Titus Hunter. If Lewis and McJimp are brothers (I'm guessing) McJimp was born 1814 in Kentucky, Lewis in 1818 in probably Alabama or Illinois, and Jane born 1827 in Missouri, another male, possibly Banister, was born between 1810 - 1820 at an unknown birthplace.
Let me hear from you and your thoughts on my research.
Sylvia
