A year after your original message...I still don't have my mess straightened out.My computer crashed but I had a GEDCOM. I reinstalled the software on a new computer, opened the GEDCOM and it was scrambled. Wrong family members in some places, wrong dates in others. It is like one big puzzle plus it left out or misplaced some facts and sources. Anyway, here's what I have that I know is correct.
My grandmother was Rhea Bazinet,b 1-1-03 in Eunice, LA d 2-86 in Pt.Arthur, TX. Her parents were Octave Bazinet b 4-14-1886 in St Landry Parish (Southwest Louisiana Church & Civil Records Volume 8, page 23) d 2-9-1951 but source is gone. He married Meletine Ogea 8-11-1885 St Landry Parish. I have a copy of the marriage license signed by Emile Ogea. That is missing also from my program but I have the hard copy. Octave was baptized in St Landry Catholic Church. Octave was the child of Paul Bazinet, sometimes listed as Polastran, and all I have left on him is death date of 1880. I know I never had much more but that's all that's left. Octave's mother was Domatile Gabriel Fontenot b abt 1824 according to age in 1880 census. The Southwest Louisiana Church & Civil Records Volume 36, page 259 gives her death date as 2-8-1904 and burial pl as St Anthony's in Eunice. 1880 census says she was a midwife. By the way, I found them on the census listed as "Bazana"-I know Octave could neither read nor write to spell his name and doubt his parents could.
Paul Bazinet and Domitille Gabriel Fontenot had the following children had several children if you need any information n them-Napoleon,Genevieve,Marie Emma,Marcel, Azeline and Octave. Also have quite a few grandchildren. As for ancestors, I do not know. I have also seen a record for Paul Bazinet and Irene Chapman but can't connect. There are few Bazinets(or records of) before mid 1800's. There are a lot in Canada and some in Mass. If you give me some of your more recent names maybe we can match up. I have relatives in Mamou and that area.
