This portrait of Thomas Beall appears on the illustration page facing page 195 in The Canadian Horticulturist, vol.XV, no.7, 1892. There is a biographical sketch of him on pages 195-196 of that volume. Thomas was born in May 1828 at St. Blazey Gate, Cornwall, England. In 1840 he came with his parents to Canada where they settled in Whitby, Ontario. In 1860 He moved to Lindsay. He became very involved in fruit growing and horticulture. He was well known for collecting meteorological data.
