Beall researchers need to go back to Scottish history; the U.S. historical records only go back to the Revolution. Scotland has genealogical records on most all of the families in Scotland that had "arms" (ie "crests") from the 1400's and the Lord Lyon of Arms keeps those records to this day. The coat of arms is more than a label; it has reasons for what is displayed, but you have to get them from Scottish records. They are not available in the US because the "arms" are not allowed to be transported out of Scotland.
