Beazleys of Caroline County, VA
I am searching for information on my great great grandfather, William A. Beazley. He was born in 1761 in Bowling Green, Caroline Co., VA.According to family records, he married Fanny Mae Turner. William was a tobacco planter. The family moved to from VA to Sumter Co., AL in 1837. Their children were Callie, James T., John W., Matilda S., Richard, Thomas, William N., Charlie, and Harrison Coleman (my ggrandfather). William A. died that same year.Harrison Coleman (born 1820) married Sarah Ann Elizabeth Peel and moved to Kemper County, MS.Charlie and Richard moved to Houston Co., TX.
I have been told that William A. may have been the son of Ephriam Beazley, but I have seen no proof of this.I have an old note dated June 14, 1825, which states that William A. Beazley is the administrator of Cornelius Beazley, deceased, and mentions Cornelius's son Charles. It was signed by William Reynolds and witnessed by Matidla S. Beazley (William A.'s daughter).According to an aunt, one of the Beazley girls married a Reynolds, but I do not know her name.
In addition to the above information, I have some old notes made by a cousin (now in his 80's) when he was a small boy. He found some old papers in a trunk and copied down the info. Some of the names mentioned were James T. Beazley, Richard Beazley, M.M.
Beazley, Sam Beazley, W. N. Beazley, Cornelius Beazley, Charles Beazley, Fanny and Adam Beazley, H. W. Beazley, and Allen Beazley. Some of these names I can identify; others I have never heard of or else have never been able to connect to my family. However, they must all have been family members for their papers to have been in this old trunk. This old trunk and papers no longer exist. It seems strange to me that if William A.'s father were Ephriam, why didn't he name one of his sons for his own father.Of course, this son could have been "lost" in time, and we simply don't know about him. Unfortunately,I do not know the birth dates for all the children and cannot identify a pattern.
If anyone has any info regarding these Beazleys, I would really appreciate hearing from you.Jean Guice
