I am looking for any possible descendants in the UK who think they may be connected to Captain Martin Becher who gave his name to Bechers Brook in the Grand National and also to the Becher Chase run at Aintree on 23rd November this year.
Martin Becher, born 1797 in Norfolk, son of William and Harriet, was my 1st cousin 4 times removed. He was the nephew of my 3x Gt Grandfather Thomas Becher. A Booklet has been written about his life and will be available at the Chase meeting at Aintree.
We know Martin had at least one brother, John Edward who became an Indigo planter in Bengal, and may have had other brothers who I would like to trace for my family tree. John Edward had a son Edward St Julien born 1849 in India.
Martins 2 sons died without any living descendants.
Many thanks Eileen.
