Hi Alistair,

Do you know of any Fleming/Beecher connection in Co. Cork?

The given names of Beecher and Lionel run in my Fleming line. My 3rd Great-grand father was John Fleming c1840-1901; one of his brother's was Beecher Thomas or Thomas Beecher Fleming; one of his sons was Lionel who was said to have been named for an ancestor.

For a long time now I have assumed a connection with the Beecher/Bechers. Last year I was able to obtain a genealogy book Titled, The Flemings and Reeves of County Cork, which was written by Lionel Fleming in c1972. The author traces his family to Lionel Fleming of New Court (Skibbereen)who was born c1750 - the name Beecher also runs in his family - however, I have not yet been able to connect my Flemings with his.

The author of this book comes to the same conclusion as I did...that there was probably a Fleming/Beecher connection in his family, but he could not find a record of this connection.

Again, do you know of any Beecher/Fleming connection?

Thanks,
Jim Maxwell
