Beckmann - in Missouri
Posted by: James A. Smith Date: December 31, 2001 at 02:54:22
  of 56

I made a trip home for the holidays that included a stop by the graveyard many of my relatives are supposed to be interred in. I found about 20! Problem is I don't know how to connect them! My mothers maiden name is Beckmann (Denise) (Sibs - Mark, Mary Elizabeth, Carl (all in Missouri)) and her parents are Mary Ella Mosley and Bert Beckmann 1933-2000 who had a brother named Fred . My great grandparents are Bertha C. Hein 1898-1994 and Fred Beckmann 1907 -1968. That is where my knowledge ends. My grandfather did speak of a cousin or aunt of his named Carla but that's all I know of her. Now below is my findings at the St. Paul Churchyard in Affton, Mo.

this gravestone is medium sized and has both sides with 2 names on each side as does the one next to it. Starting from the front left.
Emma P. - Aug. 29th, 1888 - Aug. 20th, 1976
Esther L. - Nov. 22nd 1901 - Aug. 30th 1971
Opposite side left to right
Father - Fred W. - Dec. 13th 1858 - May 22nd, 1941
Mother - Caroline C. - Mar. 8, 1866 - Dec. 14, 1962

to the right (from the raod) is another identical tombstone. Starting from left to right while reading them.
Hilda Beckmann - Aug. 9 1892 - Dec. 8 1982
Fred W. Beckmann - May 20, 1891 - Mar 5, 1965
Opposite side left to right
H. E. Beckmann D.C.PH.C. - Mar. 27, 1895 - Nov. 5, 1950
Hilda F. Beckmann - Feb. 24, 1897 - Nov. 16, 1966

Behind this last gravestone is a flat stone in the gorund with this:
Frederic - Feb, 1916 - Father (odd thing is there is no death date!
There is a cross in the seperating thier names
Vivian - Aug. 19, 1919 - Oct. 31, 1962 - Mother

The other tombstones are scattered about.

An old square white tall pillar with inscriptions about waist level.
North side is
F.G. Beckmann - GEB. d. 28 Jan. 1823 - Gest. d. 22. Juli 1883
On the East side is
Hanna W. Beckmann - GEB d.Feb. 12 1827 - GEST d.Juli 8 1914

Seperate but next to eachother (not sure we're related)
Father - Louis A. Boeckmann Jr. - Sept. 24 1890 - Mar 1 1956
Mother - Frances C. Boeckmann - Aug. 29 1890 - Jan. 26, 1969

Very small white flat stone
FEHL
AND
BECKMANN

Next to eachother but seperate
Conradimatilda - Hein - 1821 - 1891
Henry Hein - 1857 (seperated by a mason sign with a G in the middle) 1940

On a stone similar to first ones but seperate in another part of the cemetary.
Says "Beckmann" on top and underneath side by side is
William G. - Nov. 28, 1894 - Apr. 26, 1937
Pauline - Jan. 31, 1899 - Sept. 21, 1992

The sign on the entrance says
St. Paul Churchyard
Perpetual care
Non Sectarian

All dashes (-) are to be considered as indicating the next line down excepting the dashes between years on Conradimatilda or Henry Hein.

The problem with the whole trip (with my brother) was that it was insanely cold out and in walking through the whole place we didn't find who I had hoped the most and that was Bertha Hein my great grandmother which my parents said was there, as they had attended her funeral there. I am encouraged to think that perhaps Conradimatilda and Henry were in fact her grandparents. I guess my next trip down there will be to a library or genealogy society so I can peice all these people together and perhaps get a listing of the entire cemetaries contents and thier relations. It being the holidays didn't give me the time to do the research I had hoped to.

Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to offer and please contact me if your studying this line as well.
James Smith
