Jennifer: Sorry to be so long in posting a reply, I have not been to this site in a good while. I have a limited amount of information on my family. I know that my GGF William Daniel Beckom was from Georgia. He is shown in some information I received from Mercer University. He is listed as an early Baptist Minister in Georgia in the 1800's. They also sent me some other information from the Ohopee Primitive Baptist Association from back in the late 1890's where he was a member of that Association. I still have not traced his roots nor have I found any other family that would go back further. I do know that he was married to a Cherokee Indian woman and they had 7 children. My Grandfather was the only survivor from the 7 children. Her name was Amanda Wishum. She died in 1931 and is buried in Batesburg, S.C. in the cemetary on Howard Street. GGF William Daniel was remarried and moved to North Carolina and started another family. I accidentally found Robert Beckom in North Carolina and his Grandfather and my GGF are one and the same person. Robert has given me the only photographs I have of GGF Beckom. I wish I could supply more information but that is about it. I have no idea who his parents were, where he was born or where he was raised. I do know that my Grandfather was born in Augusta, Georgia. In some of my searching, I found lots of information down in Sandersville, Ga on some Beckoms who were in the Mineral Springs Baptist Church in the 1800's. If you have the opportunity to visit Sandersville, check the Historical Society. They were very helpful. You may want to check Greene County. I know there were Beckoms there also as well as in Hancock County in the 1800's. I wish you the best in your search.
