I came across the Beddows family in Horwich through my research into the Horwich Morris team that pre-dated the one known as Horwich Prize Medal. Though I've seen no record of any Beddows members of that Morris team, one of the dancers was a James Beddows Abbott (if I remember correctly). His grandfather was a Beddows, I think. Furthermore, one of the families of Beddows lived in the same street in old Horwich as the man who later became the trainer of the Leyland Morris Dancers in the 1890s. A daughter of that family married a Richard Ryder from Duxbury (between Adlington and Chorley). Richard Ryder may also have had a role in training another Morris team in Lancashire (research in progress!).
I can post more information here if it would be of use and I would also be interested to see any information that links your branch of the Beddows family either to the Abbotts or Ryders.
