The article in the preceding post was transcribed exactly as it appeared in the newspaper. I suspect there may have been typographical errors in typesetting the document in 1980, when it appeared. I am concerned that both Nancy and Margaret Beaman are said to have been born about 10 days apart in 1819, and it is suspicious that the later date is written first. I suspect that Margaret was probably born in 1818, but someone will have to look at the Bible itself to confirm that.
It is a little hard to sort out the generations here. I half suspect that the line identifying “the sons and daughters of John Beeman” is printed in the wrong place. If John and Emily were married in 1823, one would expect that children born after 1824 or 1825 would be theirs.
Since the Bible was purchased by the family after 1812 (when it was published), any vital dates from before then were entered in retrospect. As always, dates not recorded as the events happened are slightly suspect.
There are other posts about this John Beeman on the list. His parents seem to have come from NC. They may descend from Parke Beeman of CT, but based a cursory review of previous posts I am hesitant to draw that conclusion.
