There were a Louis and a Joseph Begin that settled on the shores of Medicine Lake (Plymouth Mn.) around 1856. I think this may be the Louis Begin you are talking about.
In the bicentennial history of St. Joseph's Church of Plymouth Minnesota it mentions the names of Louis and Joseph Begin as well as my great grandfather, Eustache Francois Boucher as coming down to Medicine Lake as part of a group of 36 settlers from Canada. Eustache Boucher's daughter, Marie Lucie Boucher married Louis Begin (Jr.?) at St. Joseph's Church there in 1878. Eustache and his family had come down from Beauceville, Quebec. Am wondering how far that is from St. George's?? i was thinking the 36 settlers would all have been from the same general area.
