Kristen, RE: Behm, Ellman, Pagel, Werth, Porth I have a mystery... We think that Anna Sophia Behm born abt 1802 married to Christian Markgraf born abt 1804 was parents to Ferdinand Markgraf born 1825. Anna died abt 1846, Christian then married Christine Ellman in Mewegen. We believe this family was from Brandenburg and from Stolzenburg Randow section of Pommern. Anna and Christians other children were: Carl August, Wilhelmine Caroline, Henriette Wilhelmine, August Ferdinand, Dorthea Henriette Albertine, and Gottlieb Christine and Christians children were: August Friedrick Wilhelm, Ferdinand August Wilhelm, Auguste Wilhelmine Luise, Albert Wilhelm Ferdinand and his wife Wilhelmina Borchert came to Afton, Minnesota in 1861. With them came the Micheal Stegmann, John Schultz, August Stegmann, and the widow Mrs. Pagel with her children (Christian Pagel was her husband). These families form the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Afton now known as St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Afton. Do you have any information on these families? We have no information on these families before they came to America. I also seen your posting on Caroline Porth. Caroline is my great grandmothers sister. Maria Louise Caroline Sophia Porth married August Carl Markgraf (son of Ferdinand Markgraf). Caroline Porth and Franz Lindeman had a daughter Clara who married Heinrick Johann Markgraf (son of Ferdinand Markgraf). Caroline and Maria's parents were Charles Friedrich Christoph Porth born October 25, 1830, and Friedericke Martha Werth born November 6, 1831. Charles Charles parents were Friedrich Gottlieb Porth and Johanna Charlotte Hasse. Friedericke parents were Martin Werth and Marie Dorothea Ziehm or Ziem. We have names of siblings going foward but nothing before they came to America (1846 on the Monticello and on the Skjold). Any further information you have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time Laurie Notify Administrator about this message?
