In a 1902 Rochester, Indiana, funeral notice for my g-g-grandfather, David COOPER, I have mention of several people with the BELL surname. They are listed as "attending from a distance," and their names are given as: Mr. & Mrs. Wm. BELL, Peru; Mr. & Mrs. C. BELL and Newt BELL, Denver.
Others cited in the same notice as also attending from a distance, include: Mr. & Mrs. Ralph ARNOLD, Roann; Mrs. BISH, Jos. [James?] BALTIMORE, Mrs. MARTINDALE and Mr. & Mrs. CUMBERLAND, Chili; Dr. CASE, Lincolnville; Mr. & Mrs. CLENDENING, Macy; and John LOWE and Quimby LOWE, Gilead. I include them here just in case a connection can be made through their names.
Separately, there is a reference to a previously unknown uncle, by the name of Eben BELL. This could conceivably be a newspaper misinterpretation of Ethan. And whomever this person is, would likely also be related in some way to one of the above mentioned BELLs. He is given as an uncle to one of David COOPERs sons, but he certainly is not a brother to David.
I would like to establish a link, and find out the nature of the "uncle" relationship, since no BELL link is as yet known apart from these references. The uncle could be blood related to David's wife, Amy, and her maiden surname was LOWE. Father was Cornelius Lowe, of Wooster, IN.
