I too have hunted Bells in NC or SC--depending on who in my line you ask-- Mine was Francis b. abt. 1779. He was in Alabama by 1810 and we've tracked him from there, including his will, etc. But a big brick wall before that. But as I have searched I have kept names--so will share some with you and anyone else who might be looking for Bells in NC about 1790. I found more in Carteret Co. NC than anywhere else. The 1790 Census had mostly 4 catagories-- White male 16 & up including head--white male under 16--white females--and Slaves. So the 4 numbers following the names are in that order. Where I have (?) the names weren't clear. George Bell 1 0 3 0 Joseph Bell 2 1 5 12 Billet (?) Bell 2 1 2 1 Abner Bell 2 3 3 2 Malicah Bell 7 1 3 18 Nowell Bell 1 6 1 3---may have been Howell. James Bell 2 2 2 0 John Bell 2 2 2 0 Joseph Bell Sr. 3 0 0 0 George Bell Jr. 4 0 3 1 Jesse Bell 1 0 0 0 Joseph Bell 1 1 5 0 George Bell 1 2 5 0 Mary Bell 1 2 2 0 Hale (?)
