Hi Patricia, I believe we are researching the same family line. Ignaz Benda had 12 children that I know of. Louis Joseph was the 11th born. My husband's ancestor was the first born - Thomas Joseph Benda.
I have for Louis Joseph Benda that he was born 1/13/1876 in Calmar, Winneshiek, Iowa and died April 30, 1965 in Iowa. All I have for Mary is that she was born 1880 in Iowa. I have two children - May C. Benda born abt 1906 and George Benda born about 1908.
I have Louis Joseph Benda living in Ignaze Benda's household in the 1900 Census in Calmar, Winneshiek, IA and as head of household in the 1910 Census for Calmar.
I have more information about this family and am more than happy to share.
