Hi! I think I have the family you are looking for.My grandmother's maternal grandfather was Volkert Heinrich Bendixen,"Henry", who came to America Jan. 6, 1872 from Wyk, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany (very close to Denmark on the west side) as part of a group of immigrants headed by a Captain Daniel Goos (Goosport, LA) which landed first in Galveston, TX and within days they were in the Lake Charles area of Louisiana. He has several brothers and sisters some of which are Edward, Conrad, Karl, Lenius, Helena and Louisa who married a Hansen and settled in Belgium, according to an obituary for Henry, who is buried in Orange Grove Cemetary in Lake Charles, LA. He married Johanna Knudsen from the same company of immigrants the following Nov. in 1872. Brother Edward married Meta and had at least two sons, Conrad and Karl.Sister Helena or "Lena" married Richard Green and had many children.Henry helped to build the Bel Lumber mill and worked there all his life.I'm a descendant of his oldest daughter, Mathilda, who married Arthur O. Cropper.Their daughter Edna Hannah married my grandfather Alfred Martin. Their only child, Marjorie is my mother.I think some of Henry's brothers settled in Texas. You can find some of them in the Census for Lake Charles, LA in 1900.Hope this helps you.Sandy
