First of all, my father was also Frank J. Benesh, But, my Grandfather is the one I am searching for. He was born in 1857 and died the year of 1939. I was one year old at the time and do not remember him at all. The family, on my dad's side, was very closed mouth about where and how Grandfather got to this country.

Frank Joseph Benesh, my Grandfather, was a shoe merchant in Mount Vernon, Iowa. I have his ledger which is dated November 1899.

Again I do not know how he arrived in the United States or who he came over with or when.

I wonder if my Grandfather is the same Frank Joseph you are researching ????

By the way, I understand there is a castle in Prague named the Benesh castle.
