Hi Coral. It has been a few years since we met at the Benn reunion in Ontario a few years ago. Did you or anyone else figure out for sure the parentage of my g.g.g.grandfather, Hugh I. Benn (12/31/1771 - 4/5/1843) who settled in what is now Broome County, NY? We always thought that his father was John Benn and mother was Elizabeth Schott. He would have had a brother John who married a Margaret Sills. Were BOTH John Benns settled in Canada, or was it just the younger John Benn that did so? We could never figure out how my Hugh I. Benn migrated to what is now Broome County from the Hudson Valley via Schoharie, NY. Did you ever find any new information on that?
