Nancy E. Benn was born 22 Nov 1833 in Pike County, IL. She died there 25
May 1874 and is buried in the Burbridge Cemetery. She married G.W. on 11
Oct 1852 in Pike Co.

Nancy E. Benn was the daughter of William Benn, b. 20 Oct 1796 in Bourbon
County, Ky. He died 27 Dec 1860 in Pike County, IL and is buried in the Petty
Cemetery, there. William married Sarah Phillips about 1819, probably in Ralls County, MO. Sarah Phillips was born 25 Aug 1807 in Missouri and died 25 Jun 1892 in Pike County, IL. She is buried in the Petty Cemetery. William left a will in Pike County, IL.

William Benn was the son of Benjamin Benn and wife Sarah. Benjamin was born in Virginia about 1770, and died before 4 Apr 1829 in Ralls County, MO. Sarah survived him, and was probably the elderly woman in the home of their son, Samuel in the 1830 Pike County, MO census. They were probably married about 1800. Benjamin left a will in Ralls County, MO.

I descend from Samuel Benn, brother of Benjamin Benn. These Benns settled
in Pike County, Illinois and Pike County, MO. They are also found in surrounding counties.

Samuel and Benjamin Benn arrived in Bourbon County, KY ca 1795. I suspect they were from Nansemond or Isle of Wight Counties, VA, possibly sons of Thomas Benn, but few records from those counties survive, and there is no proof.
