BOB,
SORRY IT'S TAKEN ME A LONG TIME TO GET BACK TO YOU, BUT THINGS HAVE BEEN VERY BUSY.
I'M TRYING TO TRACE BOTH OF MY PARENTS FAMILY AND THINGS ARE INTERSTING.

YES I AM UK BASED.

SO FAR I HAVE:-
WILLIAM BENN b.1782 d.1844. m. SARAH BROWN.
THEY HAD 9 CHILDREN, ONE OF WHOM WAS JOHN, b.1810 (HIGHAM-ON-THE HILL LEICS. ) m.FRANCES MELLOR in 1831.
THEY HAD 10 CHILDREN ONE OF WHOM WAS JAMES b.1847. HE MARRIED TWICE, FIRST TO MARIA BEALE IN MANCETTER (LEICS.)ON 27/1/1868 AND THEN MARY WAITE ON 8/6/1878 IN BARROW-IN-FURNESS. HE HAD 2 SONS BY MARIA, JAMES AND ALFRED b.24/6/1870. ALFRED m.SARAH HANNAH MERRET IN BARROW-IN-FURNESS ON 24/12/1892.THEY HAD 4 CHILDREN. JAMES b21/1/1902 m.ROSE O'BRIEN .1892, AND HAD 6 CHILDREN, ONE PAIR OF TWINS DIED AT BIRTH AND MY FATHER IS ONE OF THE OTHER PAIR OF TWINS.

HE IS PARTICULARLY KEEN TO (1) TRACE FURTHER BACK, IF POSSIBLE BACK TO CUMBRIA, AND (2) FIND THE CONNECTION WITH THE BENN'S FROM RUGBY WHOM I BELIEVE WE ARE DISTANTLY RELATED.

IF YOU CAN HELP WITH ANY OF THIS I WILL BE VERY GRATEFULL.
MANY THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME AND EFFORT TO READ THIS, IT IS VERY MUCH APPRECIATED. MY FATHER IS VERY ILL AND DOING THIS RESEARCH HAS BEEN A LIFELINE.
ARE WE RELATED TO YOU, AND IF SO, AT WHAT POINT?

THANKYOU AND GOODNIGHT!
PAT
