I have a Samuel Benn born Shelf 1850ish. I can do more info if you would like to ask me for it. I have no knowledge of his parents as his birth has not been found. However he gives Shelf as his place of birth on the 1881 census return when living in Eccleshill, Bradford. There is another entry on the 1891 census for a Samuel Benn who might or might not be my ancestor who claims to have been born in N Bierley.

I think we should compare notes
