J.V. Benns is my husband's great uncle. His wife's name is Eliza and his daughter is Eunice Chrystine. I have pictures of them when Eunice is just a baby. On one picture her name is written on it. I also have postcards written by J.V. after a cyclone had hit in California. I am sure it is the same Eunice Thorpe of which you refer. According to the info I have. J.V. had a brother, W.E. which I beleive was William Elder. He was called Elder. He also had a brother, George Henry Benns (my husband's grandfather) who lived his life in Tennessee and Illinois. He died in 1942 and according to the obituary, Elder was living in Arizona. He had evidently lost contact with the rest of the family. He also had a sister, Sallie, whom I believe lived in Oklahoma. Does the census findings for J.V. show his parents born in Tennessee? George was supposedly an orphan and lived with Molly Burris in Lake County, Tennessee. What is confusing though is that I have pictures of him with his "family" after he was grown, so can not explain that. I would appreciate any help with this family!
