My ancestor is Charles Thayer aka Charles Russell. His mother was Sarah Smith who married Derancy Thayer. Sarah married 2nd to a Mr. Russell. My Charles was only four years old when Russell died. He died before the 1850 census so I have no first name. Sarah Smith and Derancy Thayer's daughter Sarah married a Philip Benn and then married 2nd to William Gillispie. I've been studying the Benn family in hopes of finding out about my great grandfather who eventually went by the name Thayer instead of Russell. Would also like to know if anyone has found out who the parents of Sarah Smith Tahyer were. Charlene Markarian
