Looks like I'm a little late to the party, but here goes. I'm a descendant of the Hodgdon, Me., Benns (Benn Farm, Debec, N.B. ca. 1840-50). The border changed after the Webster-Ashburton Treaty and our branch elected to stay in Canada. Lore has it that Catherine Benn immigrated from Ireland as a single mother with about 12 children. My father, Robert, in Fredericton, has done a fair amount of research in this regard but is still off-line.
Peter S. Benn
