Do any Benns out there have information about the John Benn, born 1786 in Deptford, England (I think) who was in the Royal Navy and fought in the Napoleonic Wars?

He married a Scotswoman - Elizabeth Day, I think - in 1807 at St Mary, Lewisham, Kent. Their son, John Benn, was born 1812 and Christened at Saint Paul, Deptford. The son left England for South Africa in 1838 and settled in Knysna.
