Thanks for replying! I think anyone with ancestors with a surname of Benner, coming from Walter, Russia is related!! Since posting the post you replied to - I've discovered that my Great-great grandfather wasn't Alfred Benner, but Helfrich Benner. He married Katharine Margaretha Windecker. They had about 13 children - but I only know of four who immigrated to the US -Katherine Margaretha Benner Braun (changed to Brown, lived in Saginaw Michigan area), Elizabeth Katherine Benner Schessler (my great-grandmother - we dropped the o in Schoessler!), Katherine Elizabeth Benner Gies (lived in Lincoln, NE), and Mary (Anna Maria) Benner Mohland (lived in Missoula, MT). There were also two sons that I have names for and baptism dates - Jacob and Christian. That is what I have on this line (I have names/dates of their children as well).
My great uncle Henry Schessler and great Aunt Mary Schessler married Benners. Mary married Jacob Benner - son of William (John Wendel) Benner and Anna Katherine Klippert. William (John Wendel) was the son of Jacob Benner and Elizabeth Schoessler - I know of three of their children - William (John Wendel - his name when Baptized in Russia), Katherine Margaret (married to John Wagner - they came to the US in 1893), and John.William (John Wendel) and Anna Katherine Klippert had five children - Jacob, Katherine, Ameila, William and Margaret - all lived the majority of their lives in Park City, MT).
Uncle Henry Schessler's wife Martha's mother was Anna Margaret Benner Giesick. Her parents were Caspar Benner and Eva Katherine Butherus Benner. Caspar died in Russia. Eva came to the US with two of her children and died in 1928 - she's buried in Park City, MT). Caspar and Eva had seven known children - Catharina Elisabeth, Katherine Margaret, Johannes (John), Johann George, Anna Margaretha (died in Russia young), jacob, and Anna Margaret. Johann George (went by George) and Anna Margaret came to the US. George married Mary Catherine Kamerzell and Anna married Jacob Giesick. They both spent the majority of their lives in Park City, MT and Laurel, MT.
If you think any of the above are connect to your line, let me know - I'll share the dates/locations I have on them!
