Etienne Benoit 1670?
Posted by: Andrew Benoit (ID *****1793) Date: January 02, 2012 at 09:21:17

On October 7th 1670;
In the Notre-Dame church records, there is an Etienne Benoit; son of Pierre Benoist and Jeanne Boufard of Fontaine de Chalandray, marring a Nicole Chandoyseau; daughter of Louis Chandoyseau and Marguerite Cartier.
Does anybody have any information on this? I wonder if they went on to have children…

Is this telling us that there was another Benoit arriving in Montreal circa 1670.
By 1670 Paul’s son Etienne was still too young. Per Jean Talon’s 1666 census there was only one Benoist family;
Paul Benoist - 40 charpentier habitant.
Isabel Gabinet - 24 sa femme.
Isabelle Benoist - 7 fille
Laurens Benoist - 5 fils (oldest son)
Estienne Benoist - 6 fils
Barbe et Marie Benoist - 9 mois filles jumelles.
The only other event of signifiants for that time was Paul seling some land to Pierre Picot de Belestre
