In my ancestry there is a Paul Edward Benoit born 3March1902 in Benson, Swift Co., MN.Paul was the son of Jean (John) Baptiste Benoit and Mary Anne Houde.
Even with a "different" name we may have the same person. There is not much known about our Paul Benoit. It is believed that he was married and had a child while living in Benson.
Paul moved to the Chicago area without his wife and child. He was last seen alive about 1928.During that time Paul's younger brother Russell visited the Chicago area in hopes that his brother would help him enlist in the service.
According to my Great Uncle Russell, Paul refused his request and Russell was told never to visit Paul in Chicago again. It was too dangerous. The family never heard from Paul again. It bothered Russell the rest of his life.
During his life, my Great Uncle Russell told a lot of facinating tales. Most of them have proven true.We don't know what happened to Paul after Russell's Chicago visit. His disappearance has been a family mystery for 70 years.
We would sure like to find out what became of Paul.We would like to know what became of his child born in Benson. If there were other children we would like to know that also.
